NAD
7060 Stereo Receiver
This is a classic late 1970's silver face model
from NAD. All lights and functions are in great condition and
I am 'testing' it as I write it up for the site!
300 watts power consumption I would estimate
this unit to be 40~50 watts RMS power output.
I have swapped out my Sansui au555 and put
this into it's place for a bit of a listen. The detail is great,
the bass seems a bit more punchy than the 555 but still tight
and well defined. The sound is brighter than I am used to with
good presence. I will get around to coupling it up to my vintage
Celestion Ditton speakers which I think will be a very good match
and should neutralise the brightness a little.
Anyone who has read my amp reviews will know
that I often refer to NAD as amplifiers that tend to polarize
peoples opinion about them. You either love them or not!
I have typically remained a bit cool toward
NAD equipment but last week connected the model 120 receiver
up to the Celestion Dittons to give it a final run before it
was collected and was very impressed with what I heard.
Perhaps the first time I have experienced a set of speakers
realising a 'new' sound from an amp. It looks like I might be
moving into the pro NAD camp after all.
We do not have any specs for this unit other
than inputs etc.
Phono 1 & 2, Tape 1 & 2, Auxiliary (running
my CD player very well), Am, Fm, Fm mute. Pre in/out on the back
panel. Speakers Main & Remote or both together.
Buttons for, Ultrasonic, Hi Filter, Mono, Duplicate.
Bass, Treble, Balance, Volume.
Power output estimated at 40~50 Watts pc RMS
45 x 40 x 16cm 13.2Kg

This unit is made in Taiwan, for those not
familiar with NAD, this was one of the first companies to 'out
source' manufacturing preferring to concentrate on development
over manufacturing. A philosophy they continue to this day. This
is credited with allowing them to keep prices down while still
delivering superb sound quality. It certainly worked in the
70's!
